The Beryl Emergency Resilient Recovery Project (BERRy) is intended to support Saint Vincent and the Grenadines' efforts for restoration, delivery of critical services and resilient reconstruction - in response to Beryl, which stuck the islands on July 1st 2024 as a devastating Category 4 hurricane.
BERRY comprises of three components:
Component 1- Early recovery income support and enhancement of income generated activities:
• Temporary income support grants
• Small business support grants and services
• Labour-Intensive Temporary Employment program (LITE)
Component 2 - Resilient construction, reconstruction and restoration of critical infrastructure and services: restoration and resilient
• Support the rapid reconstruction of critical infrastructure
• Services damaged by Hurricane Beryl.
Component 3 - Project Management:
This component will support essential positions for effective project management by the Public Sector Investment Programme Management Unit (PSIPMU).
BERRY is a World Bank funded initiative through an International Development Association (IDA) credit of US$ 63 million, and co-financed by the EU-funded Caribbean Regional Resilience Building Facility (managed by the Global Facility for Disaster Reduction and Recovery).
BERRY was approved and became effective on November 19, 2024.
The expected closing date of the Project is November 19, 2031.
The implementing agency for BERRY is the Economic Planning Division through its Public Sector Investment Programme Management Unit (PSIPMU).
The Economic Planning Division operates under the remit of the Ministry of Finance, Economic Planning and Information Technology.
