A BSO is a non-profit or public organization that provides services to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and supports their growth to become more competitive. A BSO’s business development support programmes include services such as consulting on financial and organisational management, technical advice, mentoring and coaching, training and networking., but are not limited to these.
Business development services are the types of services provided by the BSO that help them attain their goals, such as revenue, profits and market networks.
At CED, our business development services usually begin with a consultation in which the Business Development Officer (BDO) will assess the client’s needs and offer guidance and recommendations. The BDO will also work with the client to identify areas for development or problems that need to be addressed. Consultations are done by appointment only and must be booked by calling or emailing our office.
The benefits are many and include the following:
(i) By accessing the business development services at CED, your company can gain an increased market share by developing new relation with key stakeholders/partners and clients;
(ii) This in turn will help your business to generate increased revenue;
(iii) Your company can achieve greater efficiency by focusing on core competencies.
There is no specific preparation required for a consultation for business development services. However, some things you may want to consider include:
I. A brief history of your business; this can help the BDO understand where you have been and where you want to go.
II You can also consider walking with your written business plan, if you have one already, to give an understanding of your vision, goals and strategies; certificate of registration, records and marketing materials.
There is no cost for business development services consultation at CED. However, some services have costs, depending on the level of assistance needed. These include writing business proposals and plans, preparation of financial statements, and some trainings.
